Ability to rename local sample files from the Browser Panel.
If the sample is in a central library then either make a new copy automatically in the project folder (easy) or maintain a song data base so that any track that uses it is automatically updated (harder)
What problem(s) would this feature resolve?
The sample names can become over long and complex. Sometimes the user just want s their sample called ‘Kick’ as opposed to ‘PSAT_Kick23Long-Processes-bounced2’.
Right now users must use their system’s file manager to rename files. This comes with the risk that renaming files outside of the DAW may cause breakages.
How does this feature fit in Bitwig as a product?
Bitwig’s Browser is already very powerful, and this feature would improve it. Sample management would be clearer.
