Different users set different configurations in the piano roll when creating a new track. Bitwig should be able to remember these options, either in the preferences or as a “save as default view” option.
What problem(s) would this feature resolve?
It would save time and tedious repetitive actions when setting up a new project or creating new tracks. Currently these options are not saved when saving a project as a template.
For example, every time I open the piano roll on a new instrument track I have to change some settings:
- Disabling the note audio preview when selecting a note
- Showing the velocity lane
- Adding a CC1 automation channel
- Pressing D a couple of times to make the piano roll occupy all the available space
How does this feature fit in Bitwig as a product?
Bitwig puts an emphasis in productivity and customization. Many configurations can be saved as default, or as part of a template / a preset.
Is there already an alternative way to achieve this on Bitwig?
Not that I know of.
Could it be implemented using Bitwig components or APIs, without Bitwig team’s support?
Not that I know of.
Could it be provided by a VST or something else reasonably integrated with Bitwig?
Not that I know of.
