Customizable mouse actions and modifier

Currently only keyboard shortcuts are editable. Some software extends this further that they allow users to customize mouse buttons and modifier too.

With this feature people can…

• Use Alt instead of Shift to disable snap
• Ctrl+Shift+MW to zoom horizontally and Ctrl+MW to zoom vertically (Like in S1)
• Set middle mouse drag horizontally to pan around arranger and detail editor instead of zoom
  • This settings is available via Pan vs Pan & Zoom settings but currently this changes other mouse bindings too.

What problem(s) would this feature resolve?

Bitwig’s mouse actions and modifiers are not optimal for every one. By allowing mouse actions and modifiers customizable, productivity can be improved. It can also help people migrating from other DAWs.

How does this feature fit in Bitwig as a product?

In Overview | Bitwig, “Customized Workflow To Match Any Style” is the first selling point.

Is there already an alternative way to achieve this on Bitwig?

No

Could it be implemented using Bitwig components or APIs, without Bitwig team’s support?

No

Could it be provided by an STV or something else reasonably integrated with Bitwig?

I think this is a great and totally necessary addition to the Bitwig Settings Page. People coming from different Workstations will all prefer a different set of mouse modifiers. I also think it would be nice if you could toggle between the (Middle Mouse Button) Zoom Control and the (alt + Middle Mouse Button) Hand Tool without having to re-click the middle mouse button.

This is a must-have for me.
Most software I know use shift + scroll for horizontal scrolling - including Ableton. I don’t know why Bitwig choose to not follow this pattern.
