Currently in Controllers settings we have global Takeover mode, with options: Immediate, Catch, Relative scale
Problem is, each mode is very useful in it’s own context, but there are cases, especially depending on hardware mixture you may want to use, where you’d want different behaviors for different controllers. In some cases even perhaps different behavior per specific Remote control slot on a given device/track.
Let’s say you have mixture of endless encoders and one traditional pot, or maybe bunch of faders that aren’t motorized, you might want faders and pots have either Catch or Immediate behavior, while for endless encoders Relative scale seems like best choice. And of course it would also depend on what you control.
What problem(s) would this feature resolve?
Limitations on both hardware and software driven remote controls over midi
Is there already an alternative way to achieve this on Bitwig?
Could it be implemented using Bitwig components or APIs, without Bitwig team’s support?
I honestly don’t know yet, if this is something that can be implemented via controller script itself, but when using Generic scripts, there’s certainly no such option available. And having to code such feature in each controller script is not really something that anyone would/could do.
