Sort EQ+'s bands

[EDITED] I later found an obvious workaround to what I was describing, it is described below. This requirement can be deleted.

What problem(s) would this feature resolve?

When using external controllers with EQ+, e.g. SSL’s UF8, the controller’s scripts will naturally associate the pots left to right to the bands’ numbers rather than to the bands’ position on the frequency axis.

In other words, the leftmost controller pot will not control the leftmosf frequency - as one would intuitively expect - but rather the first band (band “1”) that was setup in EQ+.

The solution to this would be being able to re-order the bands in EQ+, e.g. by clicking on their number (1, 2, 3…) and dragging them to the desired position. Even better, double-clicking on any of the numbers may sort them ascending by frequency.

How does this feature fit in Bitwig as a product?

It is an inexpensive way to support users who like to use controllers for eq-ing, particularly useful in mastering.

Is there already an alternative way to achieve this on Bitwig?

No, to the best of my knowledge.

Could it be implemented using Bitwig components or APIs, without Bitwig team’s support?

No, to the best of my knowledge.
[EDITED]
I’ve thought of an obvious workaround. A user can create all 8 possible EQ+ bands in advance (e.g. at 50Hz, 100Hz… 6.4kHz), in order, create the MIDI configuration around that, and that save it as a preset.

Could it be provided by a VST or something else reasonably integrated with Bitwig?

No.

Are there other products that offer this feature?

No, to the best of my knowledge. This is mostly to take advantage of external controllers.

Relevant links (optional)

Given that the frequency of the bands can change, the left to right order of bands can change too. Would this means that their mapping to controller faders or knobs should change on the go as well?

It would be good to know how the top-selling dedicated EQs are behaving when mapping their bands to controllers.

In Fabfilter ProQ 4, like in Bitwig Studio, the number of each band only corresponds to the order in which the band was created. From that point of view, it it has the same issue as Bitwig’s EQ+.

I would be curious, too, to know if other DAWs and other eq plugins have made different choices.
