RTPmidi QMidiNet

Did someone alredy could have RTPmidi or Qmidinet detected by Bitwig Linux ?
At my side, only midi hardware are detected. Alsa or Jack are well detecting it,
I want to use Android TouchDAW witch is well connecting the network and well detected by RTPmidi … but no way to configure it in bitwig as I can’t select the RTPMidi “device” in Bitwig.

Kind regards,
Pierre

on Windows you definitely need some virtual midi driver and software to manage something external connecting to it and create a port. should it be much different on Linux?

Maybe, I can create Virtual midi … but tried all connections without result. There is maybe something specific that should be done I miss… but don’t know what.

@Pierrot which OS sre you using? Wondering whether Pipewire is in the mix.

I use Mageia configured with Pipewire.

QPWGRAPH detection for Both RTP and QMidi.

Maybe a sepcial config must be add in the Pipewire conf to have both 2 channels configured,

TDaw well activated.

I know it’s a useless answer but I don’t know more:

  • Qmidinet and QPWgraph are developed by the same person, so maybe they have an answer.
  • for niche questions about Linux, I recommend trying on Bitwig’s Discord, Linux channel.

I sent a mail to bitwig support , will see … but maybe no update before a long time.
But maybe a user reading this topic found a solution and will share it

Retour de Bitwig :
yes, that’s correct, Bitwig Studio only works with hardware midi drivers so far, but we will forward your suggestion to the wish list for future consideration!

Donc en gros, les Midi software ne sont pas détectés… pour le moment.

virtual hardware should work still though, maybe there are some quirks on Linux about it, but on Windows it’s definitely possible.

Hi Iso,
Vitual midi (using snd_virmidi) is well detected by Bitwig , This create Virtual RAW midi [type=kernel,card=7] , but RTPMidi crete a localhost midi [type=user,pid=2917948] >so not a Card and is than not detected by Bitwig.
I tried to bridge from RTMMidi to Virtual Midi …but without result for the moment.

Hi, I found a temporary work around using a Buetooth Midi dongle under linux witch is well detected as hardware and well connected… but slower solution.
