My wish isn’t for a new feature, but rather for the distribution of functionality between the different BitWig Studio editions.
I don’t do synthesis, so I don’t necessarily need the full version of BitWig and would be happy with the Producer version. However, this version lacks the Instrument Selectors and FX Selector containers, which would be very useful to me, apart from the GRID.
I therefore hope that these two containers will be part of the Producer edition (in Ableton, they are integrated from the Lite version).
Given that this is 99% a business decision a 1% a technical decision, I strongly suggest you send a request directly to the Bitwig team with your rationale.
technical side would be to propose somewhat different approach to these limitations. for instance, if each edition would have certain amount of ‘feature points’ it it’s budget, and each feature listed would be 1-3 points depending on importance and complexity, then users could assemble what they need for their tier of license, instead of having quite arbitrary list of available/unavailable features.
