MIDI drum preview in browser

Currently, when previewing/auditioning a midi file from the browser it uses a plain organ sound that cannot be changed. Please add the possibility to either chose one of the Bitwig channels to play the preview or at least be able to chose between organ or drum (general midi mapping) in the browser midi preview.

What problem(s) would this feature resolve?

Previewing Midi drum loops uses organ notes versus drum hits

How does this feature fit in Bitwig as a product?

Essential to any DAW to browse through Midi drum patterns

Is there already an alternative way to achieve this on Bitwig?

Not really.

Could it be implemented using Bitwig components or APIs, without Bitwig team’s support?

No

Could it be provided by a VST or something else reasonably integrated with Bitwig?

No

Are there other products that offer this feature?

Cakewalk Sonar/Bandlab,Cubase, Logic Pro, Studio One, Reaper.

Hi @Luke101 !

Can you name them, please? It helps to be specific and then we can add the corresponding tags to this request.

@icaria36
I know for sure in Cakewalk Sonar/bandlab and by researching in Cubase, Logic Pro, Studio One, Reaper.
By the way, this can be a very easy quick win by allowing to preview midi files via currently selected track instead of the current simple organ sound. This should not be a difficult one to implement at all. This really is a basic requirement for any DAW
