Is reloading after changing Buffer Size neccesarry?

Bitwig reloads the audio system anytime the buffer size is changed, resulting in long waiting times.
When recording it can be helpful to bounce some tracks and reducing the buffer size, that takes a long time right now.
Does anybody know why?
Logic also does that but other DAWs including Cubase and Studio One don’t.
There might be a reason Bitwig does this differently, I suspected the Plugin Sandboxing, but it does not change behaviour when disabling this.

If it’s some kind of stability reason, an option to disable it for recording, but enabling it for live performance would be nice.
