What problem(s) would this feature resolve?

Reduce redundant computational structures in The Grid.

How does this feature fit in Bitwig as a product?

The Grid.

Is there already an alternative way to achieve this on Bitwig?

Lots of boxes to achieve simple algebra. Lots of duplicative boxes to achieve parameterized algebra.

Could it be implemented using Bitwig components or APIs, without Bitwig team’s support?

Could it be provided by a VST or something else reasonably integrated with Bitwig?

Nope.

Are there other products that offer this feature?

Reaper has Jesusonic, Lua, Python scripts, but has nothing close to “The Grid” and all it’s surrounding infrastructure.

I think that would make the grid too complicated.

@Jeremy_Daw you mention Jesusonic, Lua, and Python. How are these environments / programming languages simpler to write math functions? See the Math documentation in Pure Data

Or how do you envision “functions in the grid” if it’s not using an existing framework? Maybe I’m not understanding your request.
