Yes, sorry I was off for a while - a native built-in support would be awesome, the workaround has its limitations unfortunately.

A related feature without such a workaround is what Logic can do. Create a tempo map out of a recording. Means you just record a track freely without metronome. Then analyze that track and create a tempo map which follows the varying tempo of the recording…

I have added the possibility to adjust the tempo to an incoming midi signal as well (the original request mentions audio only). Why not? I guess it is possible that in a live performance the tempo is led by a digital instrument. If this doesn’t make sense, let’s remove it.
