The Vital is widely used in demos and tutorials to design synth presets. It has also a community and a somewhat commercial repository of presets. I like it, although I haven’t used it enough because… I also like Polymer, and the Grid, (and Polyend’s Synth & Play+), and when it comes to learn more and practice and spend the time just tweaking knobs I’m never sure where to invest my time. After years, I’m still quite dispersed.
This is why I was curious whether other people are using Vital, especially within or in conjunction with Bitwig. And where do you think Vital shines from a Bitwig user point of view.
I kind of forget about plugin synths in general myself. but when I do want to reach for something, that’s a good option for me, as it does have some unique features. but it seems to me that Vital been kind of abandoned for now, I don’t know what Matt is working on, but he seems so busy with something else that he never even made proper CLAP version (the one that can be downloaded is kinda broken).
Vital really shines for creating wavetables in a bitwig context, since bitwig can’t do it itself. It’s also just quick and easy to use and a good synth for teaching.
Then again Bitwigs Stock Synths are really phenomenally well made, so i rarely find myself reaching for it, except for the resample patch to wavetable function.
I’ve been using Vital for a collab project where my peer has been using it in a different DAW previously. Otherwise I am just using the bitwig native devices.
