Customizable Note Length device and Sampler's release chain

In the Note Length device and the Sampler‘s release chain, allow customization of how expression parameters such as pitch bend or timbre are applied - whether they are fixed or respect the last value of the note whose release triggers the device/chain.

What problem(s) would this feature resolve?

When using the Note Length device (set to ‚On Release‘) or the Sampler‘s release chain, the note that is triggered upon release has a pitch bend value of 0. This inhibits the usage of these devices for advanced MPE/Expressive playing styles which make heavy use of pitch bending - see video for demonstration.

How does this feature fit in Bitwig as a product?

Bitwig continues to be the best-implemented DAW for MPE and expressive sound design. This proposal would fit very well with that position.

Is there already an alternative way to achieve this on Bitwig?

No.

Could it be implemented using Bitwig components or APIs, without Bitwig team’s support?

No.

Could it be provided by a VST or something else reasonably integrated with Bitwig?

Arguably a VST could be programmed to replicate the function of the Note Length device. However, no specific examples come to mind.

Are there other products that offer this feature?

Logic’s Sculpture Synth does more or less this, but it’s limited to Logic and this one synth. It can be programmed in Max/MSP.
