Arpeggiator Step Recording and Randomize Function

What problem(s) would this feature resolve?

Both functions massively enhance the Arpeggiator Device and make it a creative starting point in the production process. The creation of extensive, individual as well as artist-provided pattern libraries is hereby enabled and accelerated.

How does this feature fit in Bitwig as a product?

It will enhance and speed up productivity and creativity.

Is there already an alternative way to achieve this on Bitwig?

Step Recording to the Arpeggiator Device Sequencer is not possible at all.
There maybe options to simulate randomization via Step-Modulators, but these doesnt reflect the overall good usabilaty of Bitwig.

Could it be implemented using Bitwig components or APIs, without Bitwig team’s support?

With these level of usability i dont think so.

Could it be provided by a VST or something else reasonably integrated with Bitwig?

There might be VSTs outside specialized in MIDI/Arpeggios/Patterns which enabling things like that.
On the other hand the programming effort should be minimal and benefit for the Bitwig Daw is great.

Are there other products that offer this feature?

Together it would be a unique feature of Bitwigs Arpegiator Device

Hi @tsicon_9

About step recording, why do you need it in the arpeggiator? If you already know which notes you want to input, you can introduce them in the arpeggiator directly. Unless I’m misunderstanding what you mean by step recording.

Also, there was this draft feature that didn’t go through but it isn’t related to the Arpeggiator: Step input.

About randomize function, you can use the Random modulator and apply it to the steps in the way you prefer. Doesn’t this cover your request?
