Add setting to configure double click behavior of midi and audio regions

In the arrangement view, when double clicking on a midi/audio region, it opens up the region in the bottom panel. There should be a setting to control this behavior. Being able to select where a region is opened after double clicking.

What problem(s) would this feature resolve?

When working with long midi/audio clips it makes more sense to open those in the main panel. People coming from other DAWs such as Cubase expect clips to be opened in the main panel.

How does this feature fit in Bitwig as a product?

It would make Bitwig more open to other ways of working.

Is there already an alternative way to achieve this on Bitwig?

The user can click Shift + TAB. This is not an intuitive shortcut for users coming from other DAWs…

Could it be implemented using Bitwig components or APIs, without Bitwig team’s support?

No.

Could it be provided by a VST or something else reasonably integrated with Bitwig?

No.

Are there other products that offer this feature?

Not a setting, but Cubase will always open it up in the main Window. In Logic you can ALT + double click.
