Add Midi option on Mute/solo buttons

Hi,

A possibility to activate a MIDI option on the mute and Solo buttons will be great.
In case of multiple midi output on external synth but witch do not have multiple audio outputs (only stereo), it’s impossible to activate a MIDI Solo option (So only the concerned MIDI channel still sending datas), the solo button work only on Audio return.
If you use a lot of MIDI channels, using the midi filter on each HW instrument (without audio return) just to activate only one is not usefull and no way to work correctly if you want to check quickly each channel.

At the same time, when they are no audio return (only midi send) on an HW instrument, Vu Meters are obsolete, or they may maybe change color and give the MIDI send flow

Hi, here is a quick workaround using an Instrument Layer device and modulators:

  • Each layer contains a HW Instrument device pointing to one MIDI channel.
  • Each Button modulator activates/deactivates the corresponding HW Instrument. This is the equivalent to Mute
  • The Select-4 modulator acts as Solo, activating the HW Instrument selected.

Far from perfect but maybe it does the trick for you? Something nicer could be built with the Grid.

Well it’s really far away, not ergonomic…when controling 16 channels on an external Synth :roll_eyes: with some audio and intenal synth.
Will really be better to work at the same way , not depeding of the kind signal on the track.(or if depending, having the option on the buton)

But anyway, will try this and come back.

In any case, if this is important to you and you are not happy with the current possibilities, send an email to support@bitwig. It’s the best and only official way to submit feature requests to them.

Will do Icaria.
I tried your suggestion but could only do it for each HW Instrument separately, did not arrive to place all my 16 existing HW Instr. into the Instrument layer, could only add 1.
NB: virtually your suggestion may work … I checked addig HW Instr , but in this case, can not have the midi recording layer showed for each HW. I do probabely something wrong.

Anyway, I will take a very long time to setup all, direct mute/solo for midi will be the best way.
