IMPORTANT: Let's decide the future of Bitwish

Then it would be even more silent. :slightly_smiling_face:

Wow just created my account and found the forum awesome and wholesome, it’s a bit harsh to see it’s so quiet and it has a countdown to death already.

As a newcomer I can say the site from outside looks like a list of feature requests that are not implemented in Bitwig.
Let me rephrase: If I google “does bitwig have feature” and a Bitwish result pops up I know the feature is most likely not in bitwig.

This is useful! But hurtful for the forum since it made it so I didn’t have a reason to join the discussion unless I wanted to push forward a pre-existing request.

I feel the issue is that this feature request thing may be too specific of a goal for a whole full fledge forum.

I believe this can and should be a bigger and more active community but for that we would need to let the original goal of feature requests as a side quest or a feature of the forum and focus on community building. A place for bitwig users to share stuff, ask questions, help each other out, make I don’t know, jams?

A place where you could search more or less anything about bitwig and there will be discussion about it.

Anyways that’s my perspective, I hope it’s at least useful, don’t mind me if it’s not.

I’ll stay and look around for a while since Bitwig became my main DAW in 2024 and I LOVE it.

Hi @tonileys, welcome to Bitwish and thank you very much for your positive feedback. It’s motivating!

The countdown can be stopped if there is a better alternative.

About the silence, yeah, I’m trying to bring more activity, but I’m not being successful. Most regular community contributors and the popular names producing videos etc sem to be happy with the status quo, and the rest… either don’t know this exist or won’t challenge the status quo either. I’m not complaining, just stating.

I also would like to have here an open and horizontal community like the one you describe here. Given the circumstances, I think the only way to get there is to have a critical mass of active participants committing to post and comment about anything Bitwig other than wishes. I bet a dozen pople would be more than enough to start. If you look at Discord or other channels, that’s most of the participation on a regular basis, and that is enough to attract more.

I’ll try to explain my point of view. The thing is that we post very valuable ideas here in the public domain, and they can be stolen by other DAW developers

This conversation continues on Bitwish is closing on Nov 2025 (unless we don't).
